D&RGW K-28

Built by the American Locomotive Works (ALCO), a total of then K-28's (470-479) were purchased by D&RGW in early 1920's to assist the very successful, but by now severely overworked K-27's.

#473, #476, and #478 are still in existence and are now under the ownership of the Durango & Silverton Railroad.  They are still running over the same rails as they did almost eighty years ago, climbing towards Silverton along the banks of the Rio de Las Ani9mas Perdidas.

This superbly detailed model is completely constructed with brass and stainless steel. Pittman precision gearhead motor powers the eight drivers with steel bevel gears enclosed in a die cast metal gear box. The model is completed with museum quality paint finish and lettering.
